Autoplay question

Running Vista 64 bit. Can I set VLC as the autoplay default for DVD's? It doesn't show up as an option on the Windows autoplay choices. And, if this can't be done, what is the preferences setup in VLC that plays the disc with the fewest steps? Any advice appreciated, see my user name!

Re: Enabling autoplay function for VLC in Vista

Thanks for the quick reply and the suggestion. Unfortunately, reinstalling the program did not re-enable autoplay, so it is not the default option. I remember that when I first installed VLC, autoplay was not enabled. At some point after that, I stumbled upon a way to enable it, but it was not intui...

Enabling autoplay function for VLC in Vista

Running Vista home premium 64 bit. A few weeks back, somehow managed to get VLC to start automatically when inserting disk in optical drive. After running System Restore to cure another problem, this is no longer enabled. I can't recall or find out how to reinstate this autoplay preference for VLC. ...

Ejecting a disk

New to VLC, please pardon the rookie question. Running VLC media player on Windows Vista. What is the best way to eject a disk? I did see references to this using Media>open disk, but could not see where to eject the disk from there. Thanks!

Re: Can I trim mp4 videos in VLC?

Thanks to both mederi and bcourts for the help. Current status is that before I used the links mentioned here, I stumbled on another YouTube vid of the same event that not only was of better quality but also without any extraneous ad footage to be trimmed, so I downloaded that to replace the origina...

Re: Can I trim mp4 videos in VLC?

Sorry to be so thick with this. I tried to follow your suggestions, and typed in the stop time as you can see on this screenshot. I could not find a way I could understand to apply or save this change (trimming off the video at 5:36), but I did manage to get the audio out of sync with the video. I c...

Re: Can I trim mp4 videos in VLC?

Thanks for your response. I can't find where to specify a run time or stop time on the dialog box that comes up with Convert/Save or Stream (same box). See screenshot for dialog box that comes up. The start time is good at zero. I tried entering the number of seconds of runtime in the "Caching&...
