Re: VLC 3.0.16 on MX Linux 19.4 xfce - No video grabber sound anymore

Why isn't that version called 3.0.17 or so? If the same version number is used for the fixed version as it is for the unfixed one, the fix cannot be recognized as such. And the string at the end of the package name doesn't provide any recognizable time code or date either, to see that it's the fixed...

Re: VLC 3.0.16 on MX Linux 19.4 xfce - No video grabber sound anymore

Now it's been almost 2 months after I started this topic. Any news about it? Is there a fix available for this, please? The big problem is, I cannot downgrade to VLC 3.0.12 on MX 19.4 because I have no idea, how to avoid running into the dependency hell. And I cannot install the release candidate of...

Re: VLC 3.0.16 on MX Linux 19.4 xfce - No video grabber sound anymore

I know, but this doesn't work. The packages related to VLC 3.0.16 are these ones: libvlc-bin libvlc5 libvlccore9 vlc vlc-bin vlc-data vlc-l10n vlc-plugin-access-extra vlc-plugin-base vlc-plugin-notify vlc-plugin-qt vlc-plugin-skins2 vlc-plugin-video-output vlc-plugin-video-splitter vlc-plugin-visual...

Re: VLC 3.0.16 on MX Linux 19.4 xfce - No video grabber sound anymore

So, rolling back to 3.0.15 is pointless and I need 3.0.12 again.
I just tried to roll back to VLC 3.0.12, but it doesn't work, because of too many dependency issues.
I even tried to use a DEB of 3.0.12, but it failed for the same reason.

Re: VLC 3.0.16 on MX Linux 19.4 xfce - No video grabber sound anymore

If it is a bug (which I was assuming already, anyways), will there be a fixed VLC version in the near future? I already tried the roll back, but I failed. I'm not even sure, what version I should roll back to, 3.0.12 or 3.0.15? Usually in MX Linux you perform installations using the MX package insta...

Re: VLC 3.0.16 on MX Linux 19.4 xfce - No video grabber sound anymore

If you tell me, what log you need and how to make it, I will add it. EDIT: Sorry, I posted the above comment a bit too spontaneously. After thinking it over, I guess, what you are asking me for is probably to start VLC in a terminal with the options from post #10. Here's the log of the non-working v...

Re: VLC 3.0.16 on MX Linux 19.4 xfce - No video grabber sound anymore

I looked into my update history and in the relevant time period no libasound2 is mentioned anywhere.
So, how can I get the missing sound back?

There must definitely be some reason, why this sound does work with VLC 3.0.12 but not with VLC 3.0.16.

If VLC itself hasn't been changed, maybe it is something about the dependencies? If yes, which one?

Re: VLC 3.0.16 on MX Linux 19.4 xfce - No video grabber sound anymore

I know, that ALSA has to be set separately. I always have the following settings added into the "Command" line of the properties of the VLC starter and it used to work great like that for several years now, but only until 3.0.16 of VLC came out recently, and all of my tests are pointing to...

VLC 3.0.16 on MX Linux 19.4 xfce - No video grabber sound anymore

Currently, I'm running VLC 3.0.16 on my MX Linux 19.4 xfce together with a video grabber "TerraTec Grabby 2" (the device ID is 0ccd:00a6). There's no sound anymore, and when I look into the sound mixer I don't have the following entry in the Playback tab anymore. VLC media player (LibVLC 3...

How to open VLC window centered, please?

In Linux Mint 17 MATE, I'm running VLC 2.1.4 with a USB videograbber in fullscreen mode and with a webcam in window mode. To tell one from the other one, I've created two different starters with some according commandline code inside. One starter is for my videograbber and the other one is for my we...

How to setup record feature, please?

On Linux Mint 16 MATE, I'm using VLC 2.0.8 to watch the video signal from my videograbber, which is connected to my DVR. To avoid setting up VLC each time I'm using it, I've added the following string to the properties of the starter icon. /usr/bin/vlc --fullscreen --no-autoscale --scale 1.36 v4l2:/...

Re: How to zoom in a few pixels using command line, please?

It's working great, now! Thank you very much! :D During the last few days, I used the settings of VLC to turn off autoscaling and to set a required scale of 1.36. But this was working in all videos, even when the video source was not the grabber. Now, I've added --no-autoscale and --scale 1.36 to my...

OK, let my try it differently...

Meanwihle I noticed, when I press ALT+ o once,
the player is zooming in a little bit, which is exacty what I am looking for.

How to zoom in a few pixels using command line, please?

Hi folks! :D On Linux Mint 16 MATE, I'm using a USB video grabber together with the latest VLC player. To start VLC with the wanted options, I created a desktop icon with this code: /usr/bin/vlc --fullscreen v4l2:///dev/video0:v4l2-standard=PAL_B :input-slave=alsa://hw:1,0 :v4l2-chroma= :v4l2-input=...
