I have it configured under Tools->Preferences Audio (Simple)
Output module: Alsa Audio Output
Device: HD-Audio Generic, HDMI 0 HDMI Audio Output

It is picked up correctly when VLC is started standalone, but not when started as a plugin.

Am I missing something?
