Re: wtv video dropping many frames so it is not smooth on ub

Code: Select all

vlc --reset-config
This fixed vlc playback of my wtv 1080p files, they are now smooth.
No more dropped frames. :D

I also had upgraded to ubuntu 14.04, but that did not help.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/i38 ... c-extra-54

For the soon upcoming 14.04 release, the version will be 54.
Is there a relatively pain free way to upgrade libavcodec?

Re: wtv video dropping many frames so it is not smooth on ub

Libavcode for windows7 on left, for linux 64 bit on right.
They are different sized.
How can I tell what version each one is?

Re: wtv video dropping many frames so it is not smooth on ub

I am uploading an 8gb wtv file to google drive, if you want to view this.
It is at 4% so will take a while.
I can share to you private or I guess leave it public for a while. Will take up lots of space there.

Re: wtv video dropping many frames so it is not smooth on ub

I plan to move to 14.04. 12.04 is still LTS release so is supposedly current? I keep the video card cause it should work in linux as it does in windows7 and wait for software to improve. Card is a lowly geforce 8400GS 256mb and I swear it is silky smooth in windows7 on this same video. Your view, Is...

wtv video dropping many frames so it is not smooth on ubuntu

I am recording a lot of olympics, etc... using wmc in win7. If I watch on my upstairs PC in win7 it is smooth, perfect with vlc If I watch using ubuntu 12.04 pc with the nvidia driver, it is not smooth looking due to half the frames being dropped. So if good with win7 same PC and bad in ubuntu, is t...

m2ts video file no sound in spdif or screech scratchy

I have a HTPC. I dual boot with windows7 and 13.10 ubuntu. I can not get these DD 5.1 m2ts files to play sound in ubuntu from the Dolby Digital web site. A few times the m2ts plays, a terrible screetchy nonsense played. The sony receiver will display pcm 48 when playing the mp4 examples. These all w...

Re: Tutorial: Video capturing VHS using Linux & VLC player

qv4l2, offers an easy to use gui, no commandline stuff to configure a capture card. I also discovered sometimes capturing a clip with the record button, the properties of the save file are missing the codecs, etc... So I have to start over and recapture again. If they are missing VLC can play and ha...

commandline to record mpeg2 from pvr time in seconds?

command-line to record mpeg 2 from pvr capture card and specify number of seconds to record? Right now I click the record button but have to catch the end of the capture manually. I see there is a time spec you can use to record for x seconds. What is a command line to do this? Record from capture c...

Re: Tutorial: Video capturing VHS using Linux & VLC player

Thanks very much for this. open as PVR does work for my capture card with no errors. You can use v4lctl as well, which is older set of commands? scott@scott-P5QC:~$ v4lctl setinput "S-Video 1" scott@scott-P5QC:~$ v4lctl list attribute | type | current | default | comment -----------+------...

I read that I should use pvr instead of vfl in the open and that does work without the error.

opening capture card errors, but can make it work eventually

I have only been able to open my pci capture card by typing in vlc /dev/video0 Which then gives me an error. Close error screen, then click play and it plays from the capture card. I get several errors scott@scott-P5QC:~$ vlc /dev/video0 VLC media player 2.0.8 Twoflower (revision 2.0.8a-0-g68cf50b) ...
