Turns out that I installed AMDGPU-PRO proprietary drivers along with the AMDGPU proprietary drivers. I don't have a pro video card, so the AMDGPU-PRO proprietary drivers were causing errors. I deleted the AMDGPU-PRO proprietary drivers and rebooted. Yahoo! VLC plays normally now

Solved: VLC Closes without error or sometimes gives an error but doesn't close

I updated to OpenSuSE 15.1 yesterday and since then, VLC won't play a file without first closing unexpectedly or erroring out. I decided to call VLC from the command line to see if there is any clue why it is doing this all of a sudden. This time I got the following error: Your input can't be opened...

I have Opensuse 13.1 64 Bit, ATI HD Radeon 5770 with proprietary driver 13.1 and KDE. I can open the VLC window, but when I select a file and start it, it appears as if it will start, but suddenly I'm at the KDE login screen. It either logged me off of KDE or crashed X. Please help. It was my video...

VLC Crashes X Server when playing x264 files
