If it is the same problem as mine, try creating a new folder on the card and transfer a couple of videos to it. See if Vlc recognises them ok. If so transfer the rest over and delete the old folder. It seems that it was the folder that went funny on my card.

I seem to have resolved this problem - sort of. I wondered if VLC might be struggling with the number of videos on my SD Card, so I moved some of them into a new folder on the SD card. Ok I have done that. I can find the log on my tablet but how do I get it to you. My device says I can't open it -"no apps can perform this action", and I can't see how to attach a file to this post.

There is only one vlc nightly I can find on Play Store - by Emrah Sari -and it doesnt have any other options under debugging. I'm not getting on very well am I!

I still have this problem - does anyone have any ideas? I have tried deleting one of my movies off the external SD card via my PC today then copying it back on, to see if that made any difference - it didn't. Would really appreciate any help with this
