VLC now runs, but won't do anything...[sigh]

Using YAST and a boatload of installation sources (Packman wasn't working right), got a viable VLC to run...only now, it won't do anything without wxWidgets. More investigations ahead...but not tonight.

libavcodec faacdecopen error, continued

Thanks for pointing out that I needed to do an upgrade to faad2. However, that doesn't change the error message. Neither does adding -vvv to the vlc command. Based on what I'd seen elsewhere, also tried upgrading the ffmpeg rpm, without any change in the results. I see you recommend using a program ...

Replacing faad2

I'm not sure how you managed to replace faad2, as any attempt I make to uninstall it gives me an error based on dependencies on other rpm-s that vlc needs at the level *they* are already at. There seems to be quite a lot of conflicting dependencies in vlc. Should this be a bug report? Thanks, Michael

Did you ever figure out what the problem was?

I'm having the same problem now, and there is almost no information out there on how to solve it...but a fair number of questions about it.
