VLC fullscreen on second monitor (playlist)

Hi, I am using VLC for playing films at a film festival type event. I have the transport controls and playlist on the laptop monitor and want to playback full screen onto a video projected, connected as a second monitor. I just cant get it to work. If I simply drag the playback window to the project...

Was a year ago when I was trying to get this working so gave up and we paid a lot of money for some software but this does not seem to work consistency so want to give it another go. Has anyone else got this working. Does anyone else know how to fix the above error?

I have been trying to get working with a Blackmagic Decklink card for a few days. I have installed the drivers and MediaExpress sortware. I can play throught the MediaExpress software. From what I can gather to see if VLC has the decklink drivers included I use: $ vlc --list-verbose | grep decklink ...

LOL, I am afraid your reply is not very useful to me. I was trying to use the GUI. Thought the word failure may of been a clue that all is not fine by ME ;). Anyway if anyone else is having a similar problem I fixed it with the following workaround, if anyone has a better solution please let me know...

OK, read thread, are people saying vlc in Unbuntu had desklink suport compiled in?

Also if it halps use DCPOMatic to make DCP but dont think VLC can play them.

OK, I will compile. Is this correct?

$ apt-get source vlc
$ apt-get build-dep vlc
$ cd /root/vlc*
$ ./bootstrap
$ ./configure --with-decklink-sdk="/root/Blackmagic DeckLink SDK 10.1.4"
$ make

Compiling vlc on mint 16, used 'apt-get source vlc' to get source. did ./bootstrap, ./configure and make. All worked.
