Apart from reducing the VLC input and streaming caching, there seems to be no solution to the time lag. Maybe , it's something the developers can look into.

It will be best if you go back and start again. You must made a mistake somewhere.

Im using VLC on windows 8 and I have just noticed my videos look dark and choppy at times.
The videos were of good picture quality last night. Could this be a bug or something wrong with my hardware?

like edwardw has said, it really depends on the codec and resolution of each file but reducing the level of brightness saves battery power on most mobile devices. For example, if you used an ipad on full level of brightness you reduce battery power by half and putting the ipad at half brightness lef...

I think after trying all the links, what I found was the best solution is having a server on Linux because its the most stable OS over long periods of runtime. Ensure all LAN has good wireless capabilities then stream videos over it to one's laptop.

I have used the Mixere program and I find it is much easier than the play-and-pause option of VLC.

I tried it. Thanks - it's a great feature. I can easily see which movie I saw last and quickly know my favourites.

I have been having the same problem. VLC is playing few songs (3/4 songs) then skips 6 songs and plays again. VLC is not playing my playlist in consecutive order.
