Re: no subtitles with DirectX (DirectDraw) video output

In case it helps, here's a log from VLC 2.2.8, where subtitles do work with DirectX and hardware decoding: core debug: processing request item: video.mp4, node: Playlist, skip: 0 core debug: rebuilding array of current - root Playlist core debug: rebuild done - 1 items, index 0 core debug: starting ...

Re: no subtitles with DirectX (DirectDraw) video output

Thanks. I disabled hardware decoding for the FFmpeg video codec, and now subtitles are shown.

no subtitles with DirectX (DirectDraw) video output

This is with VLC media player 3.0.2. Subtitles worked with DirectDraw in the version I was using before. Not sure what version that was. And they work now with Direct3D9, but that uses more CPU than DirectDraw, and VLC can't keep up when playing a video with a high frame rate. I'm running Windows 7 ...

compensate delay option of headphone effect filter allocates 16 GB

My computer has 16 GB of memory, but a lot was being used by other programs, so the hard drive started thrashing badly, and it took me quite a while to kill VLC because even the mouse pointer didn't respond for a long time. Anyway, I took a look at the source code and I think I know what the problem...

unnecessary resampling?

Why does VLC use an audio resampler even when the input and output have the same sample rate? (To prevent excessive CPU usage, I usually keep the 'Audio resampler' preference set to 'Disable', which works fine, so obviously resampling wasn't needed. But just recently I was doing something more compl...

Re: High Frame Rate movies Correct SEtting help? Jumpy/laggy

I found that videos with high frames rates play more smoothly when the video output module is set to DirectX.

Re: Dell Venue 7 "x86 build on non-x86 device" on load

Thanks. It looks like you did fix it. The x86 build of 0.9.7.1 doesn't say "x86 build on non-x86 device" anymore when I run it on my Dell Venue 8, but instead starts normally. And the equalizer now works too.

Re: Dell Venue 7 "x86 build on non-x86 device" on load

I have a Dell Venue 8. It also gives the error message "x86 build on non-x86 device" when running the x86 build of vlc version 0.9.5. And the arm7 build works for me too. The equalizer doesn't seem to do anything, though. Here's the output from sysinfo-for-android: # Build # ID=KOT49H Prod...

problem playing 16-bit FLAC file with 2.1.1

The sound stutters occasionally. MP3 and 24-bit FLAC files seem to work ok. I used the three files of example 1, at the bottom of http://www.eclassical.com/pages/24-bit-faq.html to test this. VLC 2.0.8 works ok on all three files. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. Both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of ...
