The same as when I started this thread... "When I insert a DVD, the DVD shows up on my desktop but does not AutoPlay. From within VLC Media Player, I have no problem playing DVDs." If I click on the desktop icon for the DVD, I receive an error: "This file does not have a program assoc...

I reset VLC's preferences and cache files. I rebooted.
I made slight changes to Windows AutoPlay settings. (See attached image. The link should work for about a month.)

I found a way to rearrange the buttons.
Tools > Customize interface > Main Toolbar.
