I have a Sony KD55X8507C connected to a gigabyte router via a cable. VLC can play 4K videos shared over SMB. Sometimes you can notice stutters. Once a subtitle is enabled, the stutters become much more frequent.

The likely place would be internal (or extsd) > Android > data > org.videolan.vlc But not sure as never used ' download subtitles' in vlc. But if you delete the video via Vlc am sure it would remove downloaded subtitles as well. Thanks! I found them in /sdcard/Android/data/org.videolan.vlc/files/su...

And how can I delete these files?
I can't find a way to remove them.

The link is not correct. But the problem does exist.
