Thanks for responding. Lucky I had another look at this thread. I've uploaded a file called dk_test2.ts to
videolan.org. It's the first 5 MB of another problem file and itself exhibits the behavior under discussion.
I'll delete test.ts now.
I've tried a several media players on the offending type of file and found that most of them worked. The one exception was WMP with Haali Media Splitter DirectShow filters installed. Xenorate, Total Media Player and MPC-H all ran without complaint, which suggests that VLC may be a little over-fastid...
