I'm having a related problem with VLC 2.1.0. I'm trying to rip a commercial DVD so I can watch it on my Galaxy Nexus so I need to convert to MP4. The record is a nice option and produced a great quality .mpg file which is not supported by Android. To produce the required .mp4 file it seems necessary...
