v2.1.5 crashes
The 2.0.8 is the last working version. For a year, nothing has done more.

I have exactly the same problem. With 2.0.8 everything works. I currently use Windows 8 64 with the 32-bit version of VLC. VLC crashes when you click on the upnp icon on the left side.
