I have worked around the problem by installing Network Browser , which has no trouble seeing my network share. I can then use VLC to play the files. I think that proves that the problem is with VLC. It sucks , but it works. I guess they have other, more pressing issues to deal with

Same for me. I can access my server just fine from my Android tablet or from the firesticks using network explorer. I can then play the files using VLC. The weird thing for me is that vlc is working fine on one of my devices but not the other 3. I assume that it is somehow still "logged in"...
