Re: Sound disconnects playing VOB's

uninstall old VLC and all of its files including preferences and cache, EVERYTHING. Then do a CLEAN install DO NOT use old preference and cache. See if that resolves your issue. If you kept a previous version installer of VLC that did not have that issue. install, try that and see if you can get sou...

what is "conversion software" in this forum context?

rules say "conversion software" ? "what is that" in the context of what is forbidden? you mean open source codecs?? or are you referring to decrypt-ers that bypass or breaks DRM? Reason I ask is there are conversion software that changes one format to another, which is perfectly ...

Re: VLC will not play DVDs or BDs -- crashes

what are you using to test if it is DRM free? even formats themselves are a form of DRM. unless all of the formats are all opensource with completely free license use, its still DRM. I have over 1000 commercial movies on DVD and almost all of them have one form of DRM or other. many have 2-3 forms. ...

Re: Since the update, won't play from discs

do you still have 2.2.8? If you do reinstall that one see if it resolves your issues. I have zero luck with anything post versions 2.2.8 when installing different versions I would suggest selecting option to delete cache and preferences. Sometimes they don't transfer well and mess things up . It is ...

Re: When I delay the subtitles by 90 seconds, skipping backwards kills them

my guess is that when you do back or foreward that is for the video file only and does not apply to the subtitle file that's being added either by mistake or by design it simply stops the subtitle file all together, I have that problem with built in subtitles, if I do too many forward or backs (back...

how do you report issues with no error codes?

Versions after 2.2.8 have all been really buggy for me, where do we report issues, if we have no bug list or error codes, because none are given and I am not sure if send report is getting sent to developers when VLC crashes and I select OK when asked to send one. I am use to old school where it wou...

Re: VLC will not play DVDs or BDs -- crashes

*****when you install one of the player look carefully at the options choose the one that deletes the user preference and cache. I know its a pain, but some times that cache can mess things up, and it can carry over that mess from a previous install and mess things up on follow on installs. *****

Re: VLC will not play DVDs or BDs -- crashes

I had to back degrade to 2.2.8 as well for different reason than yours. yours is slightly different issues than mine but I believe we both suffer the same issues in general with the newer versions of VLC in general. There has been some fundamental change to vlc after 2.2.8 I have major video and aud...

Re: Youtube Videos Playing at Low Res

hey folks Youtube changed its coding you must now pay them for the higher res in their pro plan, It may not be playable in VLC anymore. due to concern of being able to copy via VLC thus circumventing their forced donation pay scheme to use their pro downloader. service.. What I wonder is if VLC woul...

Re: Does VLC player play Youtube live videos?

Based on following quote it may be that google is attempting to block third party apps from using server intensive services and premium service fees circumvention. . VLC would be the latter. and possibly the former Google wants you to pay them or partner for a pro service and claim its a donation wh...

Re: VLC will not play DVDs or BDs -- crashes

Try using another platform like kodi to see if it is causing it to also crash I had to download it to see if it was a vLC issue or if it was a windows issue. or other issue. Is it a specific title that is causing it? Open the dvd file directory and look in the video folder check the vob files make s...

Re: (Most) Youtube videos aren't playing.

Google went and changed the YOUTUBE coding again. in attempt to force out third party software from seeing the video files, etc. ESPECIALLY the copyrighted ones. A lot of apps are having issues right now like many of the 3rd party downloaders, video viewers, etc. They are trying to force you to pay ...

NEW DVD DRM Shutting VLC down?

the movie "The Tale" by HBOfilms I believe uses a new DRM scheme? When opening the disk to look at files the .vob movie file is 4 gigs+ instead of multiple single .99gigs there is a note on the back of the movie case that specifically says it won't play in any computer or other device that...
