I see, when I installed VLC freshly, it worked. Then after a couple of days it simply refused to work. Of course I tried to reinstall, but it didn't helped. Thx, very useful info. But how can it be that every other player works with network stream, for example SMPlayer, mp3blaster, mpg123, cmus ?

And I didn't set any proxy explicitely on my system.
