With a MacBook Pro Retina, OS 10.9.4, VLC 2.1.4, and an Apple external DVD player, I am unable to play any DVD, except the trailers. This issue has been going on since July 2013 with VLC 2.0.7, and as far as I know, no solution has been posted. Any help would be appreciated.

As a complement to my previous post, I noticed that VLC 2.0.7 on my Mountain Lion exhibits the same symptoms as above on other DVD: playing stops at the first trailer. I am running VLC 2.0.7 on a MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion. I try to play a Japanese DVD, which plays perfectly on the Mac DVD Player. With VLC, only the first 10 seconds trailer plays. I tried to go to the IFO files, with the same result. Playing VOB files does not work either. Is this is a problem...
