If that list is true, I find it quite surprising that VLC is popular on XP since XP ships with an OK media player and there are a ton of other players for XP (Classic MP etc). Under Mac and Linux, VLC is probably the only option (mplayer is ok but has a worse UI).

Just wondering which OS most of the VLC users use. This should tell us which versions of VLC should get the most attention.

Anyone know how to use VLC to play XVID files that have subtitles in .sub/.idx format?

I'm using a Mac so I have no idea how to properly view these files... I know that a few PC players can play these files just fine.

I have assigned arrow keys to be jump back/forward by 10 sec and this does not work in 0.7.2! It worked perfectly fine in 0.7.1 and previous versions. Anyone know how to fix it?

VLC does not currently split lines in subtitles. This feature has been discussed, but not implemented
