Apologies, thus turned out to be a plex issue.

I watch files from my plex server using the UPnP on VLC apple TV app. That option is now gone, I have rebooted my apple tv several times, but no matter what that option no longer presents itself in the VLC app.

Deleting app and re-installing solved it. It saw the upnp plex server again.

I used to connect to my plex server just fine. But now getting a “server connection failed” error on iOS . I am able to connect to plex server from Apple TV without issue. I just selected it and it connected.

+1 for this. Would love to see this too.

Indeed I implemented support for this in 2015, which worked great at an experimental stage. However, there is no way to do the OAuth2 workflow required by all cloud storage providers directly on Apple TV without a companion iPhone or iPad, so we never shipped it.

Regrettably, this is the expected behavior in this release of VLC for iOS.

Thanks for the reply. Last version we could change timezone to Canada and it would work, but that doesnt work anymore. Will it ever work or will AC3 always be incompatible with VLC?

hmm, there was a post before mine, that said this was probably a bug, but it looks like that post was removed. is this a bug or expected behavior?

VLC iOS not support AC3/E-AC3 audio codec!!

In the past we could change the timezone to canada and it would work. Now, that doesnt even work.

I am having the same issue, I remember before I had to change my timezone to canada to make it work, but even that doesnt work now.

To users who had it previously installed:

Open up the app store, select "purchased", select "not on this phone" and scroll down until you see VLC. I was able to get it that way.

If i tried just searching for it in app store, it wouldnt appear.
