Re: VLC playing 1080 HD YouTube videos at 640

It should be fixed in VLC 3.0.12.
Umm, it doesn't seems so, I'm still getting the usual 720p avc non-dash files.

Re: VLC playing 1080 HD YouTube videos at 640

Sadly, VLC never managed to play the DASH streams. :(
I had to change to MPC-BE to get the full HD quality from Youtube (plus subtitles).

Re: Autostart vlc with a fix volume

I'm replying to this old thread with the solution, in case someone in the future will still need it (like me).
To use directx-volume you also need to specify the output module with --aout=directsound

VLC 3.0.6 - monitors turns off during playback

Hello, I have a problem with VLC since version 3.X on Windows 7. The monitor turns off while I'm watching a movie. I tried the "disable screensaver" option, but that doesn't affect it. I can't just set the monitor to be always on, because it has some burn-in issues. Btw, my pc sleep option...

VLC 3.01 x64 - playback, ending problem

Hi, I noticed that there is a small but annoying problem when playing many (all?) files.
The final 2 seconds are silent (for videos) or skipped (for music)!

Does anyone else have this issue?
Do you know what could be the cause?

Re: VLC - art folder?

Mm.. but what does this feature do exactly?
Does it retrieve pics from inside the files or from an online db? (not a fan of the second option, without user permission)

Also, all these temp files aren't great for the SSD.
And btw VLC doesn't seem to clean them.

VLC - art folder?

Hi, is there a setting to stop\limit VLC from creating hundreds of file and folders inside:
\AppData\Roaming\vlc\art\arturl\
\AppData\Roaming\vlc\art\artistalbum\

Re: VLC 3.0.0 X64 - some serious problems

You weren't very clear, though.
You said to reset preferences (excessive) or edit a file manually (stereo-mode one?) for SPIF (I use HDMI).
I just had to change an option, instead.

Anyway, thanks.

I've noticed this behaviour with wrong\missing URLs.
Not sure if it would happen in other cases too.

Support for VirtualMIDISynth?

I just discovered that VLC 3 finally supports the good old MIDI! However, it allows only to load 1 soundfont (via FluidSynth). Can you add support for the great VirtualMidiSynth? It's a free program that installs a MIDIOut virtual device and it's also capable to manage multiple soundfonds. It's comp...

Re: VLC 3.0.0 - Volume not retained

That wasn't the main point of my post, the second part is more important. Anyway, for the option I was thinking about the method you used elsewhere: - Auto=VLC sets it automatically to what the OS picks (as you said). - Enabled\Disabled= lets the user decide. Btw, I don't understand why passthrough ...

Re: VLC 3.0.0 - Volume not retained

VLC just defaults to what the OS picks. But passthrough isn't set to "Auto", it's set to a default as "Enabled".. Also, in my case that option only "worked" for the surround, meaning that all 2ch were low and that 6ch were instead at max volume.. Are you sure that such...

Re: VLC 3.0.0 X64 - some serious problems

About the vlcrc file from before: I found "Stereo Output" set as "Dolby" in the options.
I changed it back to "Stereo" and all AAC, FLAC, MP3 tracks worked again! :D

Re: VLC 3.0.0 - Volume not retained

Yeah, I also didn't know why these stopped working after updating to v3.
I had to create threads and tickets to understand what was going on.
In the end, I disabled "passthrough" and selected "Directx audio".
My "Stereo output" was Dolby, though (I set it back to Stereo).

VLC 3.0.0 X64 - mouse wheel jump size

Hi,
in v2.x I set the mouse wheel jump sizes (scroll to seek) to 10 seconds, but in v3.x it seems stuck to like 1-2 secs.
How can I change this?

Also, the displayed time doesn't change if the video is paused..

Re: VLC player volume affects it's sound mixer level

Umm.. I'm not sure if I like this change or not. :?
I find useful the possibility to balance the applications' audio both inside the programs themselves and in the system independently.

Also, the two % don't match well and the delay in v3.x seems actually worse than in v2.x in some cases..

Re: VLC 3.0.0 X64 - some serious problems

In the meantime, I found another audio issue -_-
Tested an AVI with simple MP3s and the audio is again muted..
Am I really the only one experiencing all these problems with the new version?

New log here.

Re: VLC 3.0.0 X64 - some serious problems

You can't do 5.1 over SPDIF. We'll fix fix to force stereo. But I'm not using SPDIF, I'm using HDMI. (I actually have a SPDIF cable connected to my AVR, but it's on a secondary input) Also, remember that all these files worked correctly with VLC 2.x.. You need to reset your preferences or remove th...

Re: VLC 3.0.0 X64 - some serious problems

passthrough is passthrough !
Uh, so which option can I toggle to avoid passthrough?

EDIT: wait, I've found it in Audio-> Output Devices -> MMDevice
(was this toggled by default in v3?)
The volume problem is fixed now, thanks :D

What about AAC and FLAC then?
