I'm replying to this old thread with the solution, in case someone in the future will still need it (like me).
To use directx-volume you also need to specify the output module with --aout=directsound
Hello, I have a problem with VLC since version 3.X on Windows 7. The monitor turns off while I'm watching a movie. I tried the "disable screensaver" option, but that doesn't affect it. I can't just set the monitor to be always on, because it has some burn-in issues. Btw, my pc sleep option...
Hi, I noticed that there is a small but annoying problem when playing many (all?) files.
The final 2 seconds are silent (for videos) or skipped (for music)!
Does anyone else have this issue?
Do you know what could be the cause?
Mm.. but what does this feature do exactly?
Does it retrieve pics from inside the files or from an online db? (not a fan of the second option, without user permission)
Also, all these temp files aren't great for the SSD.
And btw VLC doesn't seem to clean them.
Hi, is there a setting to stop\limit VLC from creating hundreds of file and folders inside:
\AppData\Roaming\vlc\art\arturl\
\AppData\Roaming\vlc\art\artistalbum\
You weren't very clear, though.
You said to reset preferences (excessive) or edit a file manually (stereo-mode one?) for SPIF (I use HDMI).
I just had to change an option, instead.
I just discovered that VLC 3 finally supports the good old MIDI! However, it allows only to load 1 soundfont (via FluidSynth). Can you add support for the great VirtualMidiSynth? It's a free program that installs a MIDIOut virtual device and it's also capable to manage multiple soundfonds. It's comp...
That wasn't the main point of my post, the second part is more important. Anyway, for the option I was thinking about the method you used elsewhere: - Auto=VLC sets it automatically to what the OS picks (as you said). - Enabled\Disabled= lets the user decide. Btw, I don't understand why passthrough ...
VLC just defaults to what the OS picks. But passthrough isn't set to "Auto", it's set to a default as "Enabled".. Also, in my case that option only "worked" for the surround, meaning that all 2ch were low and that 6ch were instead at max volume.. Are you sure that such...
About the vlcrc file from before: I found "Stereo Output" set as "Dolby" in the options.
I changed it back to "Stereo" and all AAC, FLAC, MP3 tracks worked again!
Yeah, I also didn't know why these stopped working after updating to v3.
I had to create threads and tickets to understand what was going on.
In the end, I disabled "passthrough" and selected "Directx audio".
My "Stereo output" was Dolby, though (I set it back to Stereo).
Umm.. I'm not sure if I like this change or not.
I find useful the possibility to balance the applications' audio both inside the programs themselves and in the system independently.
Also, the two % don't match well and the delay in v3.x seems actually worse than in v2.x in some cases..
In the meantime, I found another audio issue -_-
Tested an AVI with simple MP3s and the audio is again muted..
Am I really the only one experiencing all these problems with the new version?
You can't do 5.1 over SPDIF. We'll fix fix to force stereo. But I'm not using SPDIF, I'm using HDMI. (I actually have a SPDIF cable connected to my AVR, but it's on a secondary input) Also, remember that all these files worked correctly with VLC 2.x.. You need to reset your preferences or remove th...
Please share your logs, and preferably open a ticket on https://trac.videolan.org/vlc (or please point me to the existing ticket) Ok, I've installed v3.0.1 and the problems are still there. I've posted the debug log here . Btw, I've removed some personal data by adding this: [..] Actions performed:...
Also, it seems you're logging errors & main information only. Please run with -vv or --verbose=2 (or select the appropriate verbose level in tools -> messages) What's the appropriate message tho. I have: default, info, error, warning, debug Do you need the last one? Pastebin.com or any equivale...
