I too have the same problems - seen on Windows 7 64-bit, VLC 2.1.5, 4 GB RAM, Pentium Core i3.

I suspect that you have a similar problem to me which is that the playlist is (quietly) crashing when loading. So look at the track two places after the last track in the loaded playlist. Does it not bother anyone that basically the media library is useless? When you can store a total of maybe 100 songs in your media library does this not seem like a major failing / bug?
