When you Open the movie file in VLC,check the option "Use subtitle file" and select the .idx file. Now,when the video plays, right click on the video screen. You will get a menu.IN that select Subtitle track -> Swedish. Thanks a lot man! That solved the problem and now I have the swedish ...

funman: the subtitle is supposed to be in Swedish too! Apparently you can choose different subtitles since it comes from an img file. .idx + .sub combo are image based subtitles so text encoding doesn't matter. Open the .idx file as subtitle and then press right mousebutton on video ja choose Subtit...

Hello... I have 2 different subtitle-files (.idx and .sub) and apparently I have to put them both in the same map so the subtitle would work. I've changed the encoding to ISO-8859-1 but the language of the sub is norwegian or danish. What I want and what it should be is Swedish. What should I do? Th...

By the way, this only works when you brows and choose your files in the player. But when I drag and release the video file on the player and use the "K" button to get the subtitle, it wont show up. I don't know but this whole thing is starting to make me to go back to the old 0.8.4a versio...

I found a reply from you saying to change the encoding to "Iso-8859-1"!
I tried it and it seems to work.

I don't know why they would change the default in the new version in the first place. It was much easier and better before.

Reporting a problem (bug?) with VLC media player 0.8.5

I had VLC media player version 0.8.4a before I installed this new version and I had no problem with it. But now when I play the same movies (avi) in this new version, the subtitle wont show up all the time. During a movie, sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn't (it doesn't most of the times)...
