actually i'm wrong. it does work.
i was playing video files from the "Media Library" rather than the "recent files" list. it seems that the feature only works only on files played from the recent items and not from other sources.

i confirm that the settings won't be saved on the first attempt. it's a bug existed in many versions now.

may i suggest that you change the "resume playback" notification that appears when we open again the same file and make it as a small pop-up window and make it last longer or untill the user decline to resume.

when opening a file with VLC it keeps the current and the previous files in the playlist.
is there a way to make the player delete the previously opened files from the playlist and keep only the current one?

something similar to WMP.
