No, I am using the lastest version of vlc, tested it on 3 different machines using WIN7, XP AND VISTA and it did not work on any of them. Cannot even find the function in the online documentation

That will change the audio from mono to 5.1, stereo etc. It will not change the audio on the fly from headphone to speaker

With potplayer, while playing a video or music, I can click audio, the audio render and all the audio outputs appear. I select the one I require say headphone or speakers.
