Playlist View: large icons in the left pane with VLC 3.0.0 rc4

After upgrading to the VLC 3.0.0 rc2 and rc4 Debian packages (Debian/unstable) from 2.2.8, the icons in the left pane of the Playlist View became large compared to their associated text, i.e. the icon/font size ratio is much larger than the usual one. Here's a snapshot from my Debian bug report : ht...

Re: vlc executes "xdg-screensaver reset" periodically instead of "xdg-screensaver suspend ..." to disable the screensave

Anyway, executing "xdg-screensaver reset" is a hack (it has never been there to disable the screensaver), which doesn't even work when the blank time is less than 30 seconds. MPlayer can disable the screensaver without any problem (it doesn't even use "xdg-screensaver suspend" be...

vlc executes "xdg-screensaver reset" periodically instead of "xdg-screensaver suspend ..." to disable the screensaver

On a machine without a bloated screensaver (just standard DPMS features), according to strace, vlc executes "xdg-screensaver reset" every 30 seconds to disable the screensaver, which blinks the screen every 30 seconds on my machine (this is a poor implementation, however "xdg-screensa...

Re: 0.9.9a reproducible crash on recursive XSPF playlists

This is not the proper link either: I have a PowerPC machine, not an x86 one. It isn't a good idea to drop 10.4 support, and this is even the first software I know that drops 10.4 support. I won't upgrade to 10.5 because first I have hardware not supported by Leopard, and also because my machine is ...

Re: 0.9.9a reproducible crash on recursive XSPF playlists

Download the file labelled 'latest' from: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/macosx/?C=M;O=D
I don't see a file 'latest' at this URL. See what I obtain with Firefox:

Note: the backup directory is empty.

Re: 0.9.9a reproducible crash on recursive XSPF playlists

You will need a nightly at this point: http://nightlies.videolan.org As I've said, I can't find any nightly there ( http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/macosx/?C=M;O=D ): Icon Name Last modified Size Description[DIR] Parent Directory - [DIR] backup/ 01-May-2009 18:49 - [TXT] HEADER.html 15-Feb-2009...

Re: 0.9.9a reproducible crash on recursive XSPF playlists

Try with 1.0 and fill a bug.
Where can I find 1.0? The VideoLAN website mentions 0.9.9a only! And there are no nightly builds for my machine (Mac OS X / PowerPC).

Re: 0.9.9a reproducible crash on recursive XSPF playlists

I forgot to say that the files file1.xspf and file2.xspf do not even need to exist.

0.9.9a reproducible crash on recursive XSPF playlists

With VLC 0.9.9a on my Mac OS X 10.4.11 PowerPC machine (Power Mac G5 dual), I get a reproducible crash on any recursive XSPF playlist. This is a regression: I had no such problems with VLC 0.9.8a. To reproduce the crash, create a file test.xspf of the form: <?xml version="1.0" encoding=&qu...

Re: Regression: playing a recursive playlist (playlist tree)

Advanced -> Playlist -> Display Playlist tree is disabled here too. Also, when I open the index.xspf file, VLC parses all the .xspf files referenced by index.xspf until the first .ogg file from index.xspf is found, then immediately plays this .ogg file (instead of the first .ogg file from the first ...

Re: Regression: playing a recursive playlist (playlist tree)

This doesn't solve the problem: as soon as the ogg file being played is in a .xspf file, the item count on the bottom is reduced to the number of items in the .xspf file. I assume that this is another side effect of the bug. Said otherwise, VLC can enter a child .xspf file automatically, but not exi...

Regression: playing a recursive playlist (playlist tree)

I have a recursive playlist (or playlist tree): an index.xspf file that contains other xspf files and some ogg files. With VLC 0.8.6, I could play one ogg file after the other in the recursive playlist: when the end of an xspf file had been reached, the next xspf file was taken into account. With VL...

0.8.6c crashed after clicking on Stop

I was playing an audio stream and after I clicked on Stop, VLC crashed. This is the first time this happens. Here are excerpts of the crash log: Date/Time: 2007-10-06 14:18:42.777 +0200 OS Version: 10.4.10 (Build 8R218) Command: VLC Path: /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC Parent: WindowServer...

Re: Symbolic link can't be opened from file browser

Though I could always reproduce the problem on this symbolic link, I couldn't reproduce it on other symbolic links, and when I now try again on the original symbolic link, I can't reproduce the problem any longer, though I didn't change this symbolic link. The next time such a problem occurs, I shou...

Symbolic link can't be opened from file browser

With VLC 0.8.6c under Mac OS X 10.4.10, I wanted to open an XSPF playlist. So I chose "File → Open File", then "Browse...". Here's the problem: the "Open" button can be clicked on for any file, except a symbolic link ("Open" is grayed out). However, if I click...

Stream title from playlist is lost after playing the stream

I have a playlist with several streams, each containing a title. When I open the playlist, everything is fine: all the titles are visible. But when I play a stream, the title is modified; in particular, when the stream has no title (e.g., http://ms2.radio-canada.ca:80/EspaceMusique.ogg ), the title ...
