Downgraded the client to 2.0.4 and it seems like that did the trick; I love it when complicated problems have simple solutions Thanks a bunch!

I've setup an RTSP stream using VLC 2.0.6 on a virtual Ubuntu 12.04 server and I've been trying to view the stream using a separate VLC 2.0.5 client on a Windows 7 x64 Home Premium desktop.
