Re: Stopping Auto Play

In the back of my mind there's a 3rd/p program that controls this, but I can't recall it atm. It's fairly standard, but there is this: http://www.softwareok.com/?page=Windows/10/Beginner/41 This: http://www.nirsoft.net/dll_information/windows8/autoplay_dll.html and this: https://www.nirsoft.net/util...

Re: Stopping Auto Play

Any luck? I actually want to do the opposite for a friend who wants DVD movies to start, full-screen, in VLC, but no luck so far. The auto-play section of the Control Panel (Win10-1909) has many options: Find a new app, Browse with TCUP(!), do nothing, Open in File Explorer, Ask. I'll hunt elsewhere...

Re: Vlc 3.2.2 local network problem

You make a good point ^^^ jeff868 - it would retrieve VLC's reputation and fix the problem all at once if the code for the last working version of VLC for iOS (3.1.9?) were slotted back in and named 3.2.3. That way we would have a functional version of the program and it would be known to be valid a...

Re: Screen Mirroring Not Good 3.2.2

'Screen Mirroring'? I suppose we could build a collective comment-point for 3.2.2 here, likely being the result of the same flaw. I'm experiencing 3.2 all over again. Anyone else? I get the sign-on box that now closes itself after authentication (the 3.2.1 problem) but now I'm getting the spinning ...

Re: Old native skin

Here to share the same gripes, really liked the old skin it was timeless, I will have to try installing an old version VLC for the time being. I might create a skin, if I do I'll share it here.
Thanks F-1, we look forward to the old classic chic.

Re: V3.2.0 (334), samba connection problems.

I'm no programmer, but I expect that VLC, like many other programs, simply uses 'sockets' made available by the operating system to communicate with the outside world. SMB vn.1 has been unplugged and vn.2 plugged in - for security reasons. If your device is 'hard-coded' with SMB vn.1, I'd say that y...

Re: Old native skin

This is not customization or something. We only wanted to experience the way it was before like a legacy/classic mode, without sacrificing performance and new features. I really don't think it'd be hard for you to just upload something that you already designed and used in previous builds. But as a...

Re: V3.2.0 (334), samba connection problems.

SMB (version 1 I believe) connection to my media streamer device, a Verbatim Mediashare hasn’t worked on VLC since version 3.x :( Works absolutely fine on other apps like nPlayer and Infuse. Would love to see this working again. Keep in mind, Neon, that SMB vn.1 was deprecated for vital security re...

Re: Latest VLC for iPad connection error

Yep, agreed, glnz, it's a different beast now with 3.2.1. I get much the same as you though I do have unams and pwds on each of my machines (and different users). With this edition it seems to be a 'Turn-Up-And-Identify' kind of sign-on: you provide credentials to access your LAN shares and 'Connect...

Re: Latest VLC for iPad connection error

Yes, thanks glnz. Since I was one of the first to report VLC's breaking in this regard, I was alert to the news of a discovered bug and the plan to fix it. Awaiting with interest. And I note with interest what you say about 'Documents'. I see no app 'Documents', per se, though search shows 'Document...

Re: Latest VLC for iPad connection error

Similarly, two days ago VLC for iOS was working perfectly nominally on the local network here linking three Windows 10 PCs, then it updated itself on an iPad mini running iOS 9.3.6 (13G37) (the latest possible) and only one of the PCs is accessible. VLC for iOS cannot read the shares on two of the P...

Re: VLC opens JPG's as a slideshow

It would be good to have an answer to that, wouldn't it? Using VLC as a slideshow utility could be very useful, especially if it were controllable; the pause-time of ten seconds, for instance. Fades between. There doesn't seem to be a configuration item in the GUI. I see that XnView MP has a live sl...

Re: AV sync Audio delay slider precision

Thanks for mentioning this, alband. I have noticed recently that on iOS (iPad-mini 4) the delay adjuster is better behaved. Less jumping around. Although unlikely to be connected, other queer things have emerged, like double up-swipe doesn't invoke a jump back, and autoplay-next doesn't seem switcha...

Re: Old native skin

Has anyone found a way to return old icons without installing the old version? skins, etc. No luck so far, but there's a couple of alternative ways to tackle this. Firstly, leave the 2.x version installed formally as per normal and let it run the mp3, mp4, wmv, m4v, m4a etc files as of old. Disable...

Re: AV sync Audio delay slider precision

Thanks to albrand for raising the subject of the rough audio delay slider. I too agree that it is particularly cumbersome and must having undergone little practical testing. It's now January 2019. I notice that the 'time slider' on the top of the screen, while lacking the standard capability of allo...

Re: Old native skin

That's a little harsh, isn't it, Jean-Baptiste? We're just asking for less fuss, just a simple keeping of the old cosmetics of the late 2.x.x series. Developing functionality is quite a different thing to having to cognitively process new visual controls with every integer-version change, is it not?...

Re: Old native skin

How can you not see the difference, Jean-Baptiste? The control symbols, icons, if you like, are of a completely different character and are fainter, more stylized and rectilinear, less 'organic', compared to those of the 2xx series. Please look more closely towards the bottom left of the image det.f...

Re: Hotkeys Fail Consistently

Here we are at the other end of the year with 2.1.5 Rincewind* and nothing's any better. Like nervo-wrex, I'm going batty, too. Hotkeys when the application's up - and nothing happens.. It's like the parallel universes in Fringe; parallel applications, ostensibly with the same character, but in fact...

Re: Have VLC Remember Graphic Equalizer Settings

NOTE: I think it's important to realise that in version 2.1.3 Rincewind the vital final setting is described a little differently to what's given here. The vital setting is under Tools | Preferences, [All radio-button selected (bottom-left)], Filters. Stop there. It's on this page that the ticks hav...

The thread's getting fairly long in the tooth, but has anyone derived any success from the posts here? Hasselcloud's reply - a few above - looks informed, but could we not do the same in Windows? Is it essentially the same method, with command-line instructions, admin rights(?), all from '\Program F...

Could I ask - what does this mean? 'Record the desktop.' 'Record the mouse.'
How do you record a thing? A noun.
It'd be like recording a rock, wouldn't it? Recording a duck.

Time Relativity Ignored

I listen to a lot of podcasts in a docked playlist configuration, and I find that normal speech is far too slow and time wasting - so I speed up play-back. I run with Advanced Controls showing and I customise the control GUI area with • Speed indication & change • Elapsed time • Time remaining •...
