any onw know the codebase and classid for 0.8.6d ActiveX ?

I have a web page with 2 vlc plugins (npvlc for firefox)

they can work well together ...one display the local webcam, another receive strema and display ..both can work well at the same time...

BUT, when I quit Firefox, I got "Firefox error ..abend .."

any idea ???

Hi, I am try to use VLC for video conference over internet with my friends. Just want to know what codec and muxer are the best for me? Any guideline for selection? My scenario: 1. Internet bandwidth = 500k-1M bps ADSL connection 2. WinXP machines 3. bigger video is better, say 360x240 OR even bigge...

My question is how to install vlc in FireFox without full installation of vlc?

In order for my clients to use vlc in their FireFox browser, what is the simplest way for them to install npvlc.dll ?

if u stream out over http, to receive, src set to http://src_ip:port will be fine.

IP camera = basic computer hardware + webcam hardware + OS (Linux?) + web server + video system

so, if u CAN replace the "video system" coming with your IP camera by "VLC + your system" if u like...

but of course, that will be "at your own risk" ...

difficult to tell what is wrong in your case ..but, u may try the followings.. 1. clean your DVD, may be the DVD is dirty 2. for 256M RAM, ...stop all other applications, 3. check with your classmates..may be ..it is not your problem, 4. in vlc, open the message windows..u may find out why vlc can't...

if u just want to stream within your LAN, that's easy ..

vlc can be used as stream server (both on Windows and Linux)

vlc can also be used as player on client's machine (both windows and Linux)

1. there are many file formats that VLC can handle...but there's no file format called VLC file format.

2. if vlc can open and play your downloaded files, u can use vlc to convert them..u don't need to tell vlc the file format ..

3. just specify the transcode output in WMV2 will be fine

may be ..that's a web cam with name in double byte char ..say Chinese, Japenese ..etc

if u select it, it will work ..

depends on what u have downlaoded ...

in general, get the right codec for your video files....but I don't think u like this answer ...

if u can see the captured video in a WEB page, then u can find out the format used ....

u can open the source of the WEB page in your browser, and see how the video is embedded ....

have u checked using jvlc ??

In order to use vlc to play video in a web page, I know there's vlc activeX for IE, and Mozilla plugin for FireFox, ... my question is ..how about for the browser Opera?

in order to save the video in a file : in stream out, select "file"..give a file name ... any format will be ok if u just want to allow your users to download the mov file; but if u want to allow your user to watch the video using a browser online, select a format that your user's browser ...

get jvlc, ...

then u can build Java applications with vlc features, like capture, stream, ..etc.

but, video (or multimedia) is alway platform dependent, ....so, jvlc is platform dependent, not like Java ...
