Re: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

I forgot to say that Rome, Season 1, disc III *doesn't work* on VLC 2.2.1 under Ubuntu 15.10 either. So the problem seems not to be Win7 specific. This disk *does* work on a dedicated (non-computer) DVD player, tho. I could *not* get Rome Season 1 disk III to work with Windows Media Player on Win7; ...

Re: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

I'm having the EXACT same problem as ZeeMartin (above) on EXACTLY the same disc: Rome, Season 1, disc III.

Resetting all of the preferences and cache files DID *NOT* WORK.

Re: 2.0.5 video snapshot file names

Perhaps there is a way for VLC to unify the concept of outputting video snaps and ffmpeg-style JPEG/PNG video sequences. Put this collection of still pix into a _directory_ with a name derived from the original video file. Then provide a C-style format string which includes a _time code_ parameter, ...

2.0.5 video snapshot file names

Is there any way to change the default names for the video snapshot files? It would be far more convenient if their filenames bore some resemblance to the video filename from which they came, plus some sort of _time code_. Once you generate 50-100 video snapshots, it's nearly impossible to keep trac...

audio/video sync when playing lectures 1.5x real time

I use the "j" and "k" keys to sync up the sound and the video using the video lecturer's lips as a guide. Since I often play back lectures at 1.3x - 1.8x, I've noticed that at different speeds, the audio/video sync required is different. Isn't it obvious that if the correct audio...

2.0.5 stopping & starting video fails

This problem seems quite reproducible. 1. Set file caching parameter very high -- e.g., 30000msec = 30 seconds. 2. Start video. 3. Open Message window & set to debug. 4. Increase speed to perhaps 1.8x (hit "]" a number of times). 5. Wait until video & audio are playing smoothly (mo...

Playing very low frame rate video

Although the following question has been asked many times before on the VLC forum, it has never been properly answered: How to play low frame rate videos? The problem is that when VLC fails to play these videos, VLC gives no indication that anything has failed; VLC simply refuses to display or (in s...
