Indeed. Unfortunately, for me this is a showstopper bug, because in my title tags, a dot is very common.

I filed a bug (#17169) with exactly this issue (sorry, I found this thread only afterwards). I can confirm this bug with my opus files. mp3 files seem to work though. So my guess is that all files with xiph comments are affected.

I have here a file (no copyright issues with it) with not so many tags (but album, artist and title are provided). I hope it is sufficient. VLC for Android tells me unkown album and unknown artist.

I really like this uncomplicated app! And it is great that it plays .opus files, but unfortunately it doesn't read the tags in these files. The desktop application does read the opus tags, so I hope it is on the todo list for the Android app?
