Look at the logs. It's probably a match in the CDDB database.

A match with what?

I'd created the .mp3 files the audio CD was made from, and gave them no song/artist/album info.

Also, where would I find these "logs"?

What's the resolution of the video? Do you have "MediaInfo" on your computer to tell you that? What happens when you set VLC to a specific aspect ratio instead of "default"?

VLC Media Player seems to have the ability to play and store/record streaming video, but I just can't figure out how to make it work.

I downloaded the new version of VLC player (I'm using Windows XP), and found that when I'm running anything (video files, DVDs...ANYTHING) there's no longer a time readout on the player.
