Re: 3.0.4 Veinari unable to read SAP

From what I have read VLC 3.0.4 still supports ipv4. You seem to agree. But the client does not read the SAP announce name(s). Thus a problem. Possibly related to VLC preferences. Can stream using RTSP, but the client stops after the end of every `play' and needs a manual re-start for the next item....

Re: 3.0.4 Veinari unable to read SAP

The log on the client displays about 16 identical lines of:
main error: Cannot resolve ff01::2:7ffe port 9875 : No such host is known.

Streaming Playlists from the GUI

This appears to be a frequent but ancient topic for which I have not found a resolution after exhaustive searches. The task appears to be a trivial application of vlc - stream music files over a local network. Using a *.xspf file to hold the playlist, the final output command line from the GUI is: I...

Re: Can VLC 2.2.4 convert VOB files?

Thanks Kodela, for persisting with this one despite the continuing lack of resolution.
I think I will fire up a rarely used Linux box to try the conversion before reverting
to an earlier version of vlc.

Re: Can VLC 2.2.4 convert VOB files?

Yes a) If there is an existing file, vlc provides the option of overwriting it If you elect to overwrite the file (as I always do), the conversion should proceed. In this case, no conversion appears to take place, the original file, as in b) below, is still there. b) When there is no file present, s...

Re: Can VLC 2.2.4 convert VOB files?

Yes, I have been using exactly the procedure you described. Messages (Cannot see how to attach a file) qt4 debug: MRL passed to the Sout: file:///D:/VIDEO_TS/VTS_03_1.VOB qt4 debug: Transcode MRL: sout=#transcode{vcodec=h264,scale=Auto,acodec=mpga,ab=128,channels=2,samplerate=44100}:std{access=file{...

Re: Can VLC 2.2.4 convert VOB files?

OOPS! I did not follow the instructions exactly. This time I deleted the folder `vlc'.
Upon conversion of the VOB file as described previously, a 140Mb audio/video 7 minute file became a 7Mb audio file of 7 minutes.
No video?

Re: Can VLC 2.2.4 convert VOB files?

Thanks Kodela - difficult to understand why changing preferences would make a difference, however:
WIthin VLC: Tools | Preferences | Reset Preferences
Close vlc, restart and try converting a VOB file as described previously
Nothing happens??

Modify/Remove playlist items fails - VLC 2.2.4

Variations on this theme seems to be a problem that never goes away! I copied many mp3s into a folder, several down from "My Music". The mp3s were named "Track 01.mp3", "Track 02.mp3" etc. They displayed and played OK from the VLC playlist. Then within the folder contai...

Re: Concatenated Video Fails to Display

a) In desperation, I did just that, but missed a lot of understanding of the resulting movie (refer to b. below). b) I have a subtitle file for the concatenated result which would be hard to synchronise with the playlist of four parts c) I would like to be able to concatenate as well as cut - it is ...

Concatenated Video Fails to Display

vlc (for MS Windows) was used to cut Part1.ts, Part2.ts. Part3.ts and Part4.ts from a 4Gb video file. The four parts can be played independently by vlc. An attempt was made to merge the four files. Although a 2.1Gb file was created, (roughly the combined size of the four files) vlc cannot play it. T...

VLC 2.2.1 crashes with subtitles - Win XP

If there is a *.srt file in the same directory and with the same base name as a video file, the subtitles appear for some time, but then the video file crashes. This has occurred with several video files. Several automatic debug reports seemed to have been successfully sent after the crashes. The su...
