Well surprisingly it didn't do the trick. I still see the cone icon. I was able to reset the extension as well and still no thumbnail. I am literally out of options.

The thumbnails aren't generated by VLC. Try this -> http://www.coolmegabytes.com/video-thumbnail-windows-explorer-flv-3gp-mkv-webm-preview/ or install a codec pack (not reccomended IMHO).
