I noticed on the ticket you listed that the problem is with 4 channel devices.
The Tascam US-122mkII is a 2 channel device.

I am having the same issue with a Tascam US-122MKII. It works OK in Windoz 7 under VMWare Fusion.
MacBook Pro OSX 10.6.8
Getting the same type of messages as previous posters.
