Re: VLC does't show the correct time of a MPG, Mediaplayer d

I uploaded a short testfilm (335 MB) to show the problem: https://www.dropbox.com/s/p4t6eg5oricmueo/Aufnahme.zip His orignal total time is 10:00. VLC shows 4:48. And I have some new information. May be that helps to find the cause for the incorrect total time. A friend uses another grabber from Terr...

Re: VLC does't show the correct time of a MPG, Mediaplayer d

A screenshot from the message window: http://borumat.de/+screenshots/hc-2012.11.29-13_09_33.png I hope somebody has an idea how to solve the strange time problem. I really don't want to use Windows Media Player for the grabbed VHS cassettes. May be I could try another software for grabbing. But I do...

Re: VLC does't show the correct time of a MPG, Mediaplayer d

@edwardw You mean with "sharing" to upload the film somewhere? I can't, sorry, it's a private film. My hope was, that anybody had the same problem in the past and knows the cause for it. Is there any log/info/message window which provides technical details of a film from the perspective of...

VLC does't show the correct time of a MPG, Mediaplayer does

I started with grabbing old VHS video cassettes with hardware from terratec ("grabby") and a bundled software from magix. The film is recorded as mpg. The properties of the film show the correct time, e.g. 31 minutes. Windows Media Player shows the film as expected completly. But VLC doesn...

Re: BD: Judder "inside" the picture (not as a whole)

I described the "judder effect" in a german forum. I get a reply where a poster knows that effect from an older notebook. Than I installed a trial of "Power DVD 12". I get the message that my display does not support (seems to) HDCP. Does this information help to isolate the prob...

Start a film at the position where closed before

I would love to have the option to start a film at the last position before VLC has been closed or before another film has been opened. That is not the same as setting bookmark manually of course. The feature is well known from audio players for audiobooks, or from ebook readers for ebooks. I think ...

Re: BD: Judder "inside" the picture (not as a whole)

It's very difficult to describe, even in my mother language German. I found http://www.merriam-webster.com/thesaurus/judder "to make a series of small irregular or violent movements" That describes the visible effect well in my opinion. The effect takes place on parts of the whole picture....

Re: How to get named chapters?

@Rémi
I feared that. Well, I have to put up with it, of course. I don't like proprietary systems/structures at all.

Thanks for your help.

[Solved] How to get named chapters?

A DVD menu (I mean the menu which is offered from the producer of a DVD and is displayed inside the picture) shows named chapters. When you open "Playback > Chapter" the user gets a simple list of numbered chapters. No names, not textual content at all. My question: Is there no standard fo...

Re: [Solved] Open Media: How to make a Blu Ray drive as defa

Ideally VLC would "detect", if it's a DVD or a BD and start it with appropriate settings.

Than I wouldn't need two different entries in the start menu - one for BDs and another for DVDs.

Is that possible?

Re: Open Media: How to make a Blu Ray drive as default?

@mederi
Works perfectly! Thanks :)

Please allow me to ask a question about navigation inside a BD.

Shift+M does not show a BD menu.

"Menu Playback > Chapter" does not show any named chapters, but just a numbered list.

Is there any way to get a list of named chapters for navigation?

Re: Open Media: How to make a Blu Ray drive as default?

Hhmm. I don't know programming, so I can't create a .bat file. I tried to create a shortcut for the start menu: Target: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe bluray:///H:" Exexute: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC" But that is not accepted by the OS. Sorry, I don't want to bother ...

Thanks.
May be it would be helpful, if the user gets a message, when he saves changes with the hotkeys.
Just a suggestion.

Win7 and Apple Wireless Keyboard: How to use multimedia keys

I'm using an Apple Wireless Keyboard A1255 under Win 7 64bit. There's a driver for that keyboard. The keyboard works fine and e.g. the multimedia keys work in iTunes. I tried to bind a multimedia key in "Extras > Preferences > Hotkey". But there's no reaction, when I press a multimedia key...

[Solved] Win 64bit version: How to clear hotkeys

I use the actual version of VLC for Win 64bit. It is declared as experimental. Is that the cause, that there's no function to remove a hotkey (clear)? Or do I overlook the function? Thanks. Edit: I tried the VLC 32bit. There's no graphical interface element to clear a hotkey. But I found a shortcut:...
