changing to the mkv mux did the trick

C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC>vlc -vvv rtsp://<REMOVED>/live1.sdp --sout #duplicate{dst=display,dst=standard{access=file,mux=mkv,dst=c:\testmkv8.mkv}

this will display and output to file

Hi, im running VLC on windows v2.0.4 I did lots of googling on this issue and couldnt find any obvious answers, apollogies if this is a duplicate of another thread i have an rtsp feed from an IP Camera, in VLC i can see from Tools/Codec Information that i have Stream 0 Type : Video etc..... Stream 1...
