Yesterday I found out that VLC Player had released a 64bit version. Having a Windows Home Premium 7 installation I uninstalled my VLC 32bit v 1.0.3? install and did a clean install of the latest 64bit version. I installed the Skins pack download from here and chose the Heaven skin. Everything so far...
