OK, found a solution. Advanced Preferences > Video > Snapshot. Change 'Video snapshot width' and 'Video snapshot height' from default -1 to 0.

Using 3.0.16 Vetinari on Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit. I observe an unexpected cropping issue taking snapshots. There is a black bar on the left side and the right side is cropped. If I play a file via Media->Open File, when the playback completes, VLC automatically starts playing the first item in my Media Library (View->Playlist Playlist/Media Library). How do I prevent this?
