It was NEVER supported to play external text subtitles with mpeg. It often works, but because there are no time indexes in mpeg files, it's not easy to do the synchronization. Bump - isn't there anyone here that can try subtitles with mpg-files, mpeg1 or better mpeg2 and say if it works for them?

It seems like it's simply impossible to load subtitles with .mpg files? I can't get it to work with any of the files I have anyway, using WinXP and VLC 0.8.1. I tried the latest build, from 18/4, but it didn't work either. Can some more people confirm this, please? Or better - tell me how to make it...

I'm the guest above. Might add that I only tried several text formats of subtitles, not bitmaps as the topic starter. (If .idx & .sub's, they are bitmaps, right?)
