How to record screen in latest version of VLC? [2.2.1]

There are a lot of videos on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=record+screencast+vlc) that demonstrate how to record screencast straight from VLC. No need to install screencast application. That works pretty well on those videos. But for me, it either crashes or hangs up. The pro...

Re: How to make rpm package?

Refer to the Unix compilation guide on the wiki.
Are you talking about this page? http://wiki.videolan.org/UnixCompile
I read whole page but can't find it.

How to make rpm package?

Before asking this question I looked into INSTALL file in the root of source directory, which says:
To build RPM packages, copy a spec file from extra/package/rpm and:

rpm -ba vlc.spec
But there isn't even any directory named rpm in extra/package.

Re: configure says "No package 'dbus-1' found.", but there i

Oh!! I found the solution. In order to compile something, *-devel package is needed on Fedora. So in my case that was dbus-devel.

But the ./configure exit message was confusing.

configure says "No package 'dbus-1' found.", but there is.

While compiling, when I do:

Code: Select all

./configure
it says:

Code: Select all

configure: error: No package 'dbus-1' found.
but when I run:

Code: Select all

rpm -qa | grep -i dbus-1
it lists dbus-1.6.8-2.fc18.i686, so I don't know where the problem is.

I am using Fedora 18.

Keep video track disabled when replaying video

We can disable the video output of a song (and listen only to audio) by going in Video > Video Track > Disable. If you are listening to a song that you would like to play more than one time then you will loop it with "L". But the video is enable when the looping is complete and video start...

Shortcut key to loop from point A to B?

Is there any shortcut key to loop from point A to point B when playing a video?

This makes me use my mouse, which I don't want. :(

How to go one frame back?

When `E` is pressed while video is being played, the video pauses and the video is shown frame by frame on each keystroke of `E` (in forward direction). Is there any equivalent keystroke that simulates the same but in backward direction? P.S.: It is annoyfull when you are watching any video frame by...
