A follow up to my original post, this afternoon I downloaded and installed the latest nightly version [vlc-3.0.0-git-20150404-0402-win64.exe] and I am happy to report that the problem with my samba shares has been fixed "YEAH"... A VERY SINCERE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CORRECTED THE PROBLEM......

i just discovered i have version 3.0.0-git-20150103-0402on another windows machine on the network and it works fine - currently watching wolverine from \\rodan\....

hopefully this gives a reference point for comparison.

last version was vlc-3.0.0-git-20150322-0403-win64 and a few nightly builds since 20150302... i have not gone back and determined where the break was between versions.

I have not found the 64 bit version of 2.2.1 - is it available on the servers?
