Restarting VLC is not necessary, just stopping and restarting playback will suffice to apply the new setting. By the way, this has not only happened in VLC for me. Since upgrading to Catalyst 12.6 I have had this problem in VLC, Media Player Classic, MPlayer, Windows Media Player, and Adobe Flash. ...

if i untick accelerated video output (overlay) then save in vlc. i still have alot pixels (image above). You have to disable GPU decoding not overlay. It's in the codec thumbnail in Tools->preferences then save and restart vlc. success so far! (no restart) thanks ill keep you informed of any changes

can you clarify what you mean sorry "I still believe it to be a problem with the drivers as Catalyst 12.4 works absolutely fine with VLC."
