Just tested this again in the 2.0.3 release and the volume is still laggy. The patch still seems to work, but also crashes the "Audio" options panel in preferences.

On a positive note, someone at least reopened the issue so hopefully we will get a proper fix soon...

I tried fiddling with the various cache settings in Tools -> Preferences -> All -> Input / Codecs -> Advanced, but changing them doesn't seem to do anything. ...
