Re: Quit VLC if already running and unfreeze after playing

Does it do this with any video? It sounds like the file you are using has more than one video stream. Please check and verify.

What version of windows, what hardware, did you update drivers for your video card, what other players do you have installed?

Re: VLC 2 causes Windows XP to crash

The geforce2 MX graphics in that system cannot handle the decoding of the h264 properly so it's thrown off to your CPU, which is too slow to handle it too. One option would be to put a more recent video card in there, given you have AGP that would be something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Produc...

Re: VLC 2.0/2.0.1/2.0.2 audio stuttering/lag

Ok, maybe there's even something else interacting here as my DPC tool screen was showing no troublebefore and after I toggled the settings for power management disable/enable and reports elsewhere say the same after toggling the sound output between Default/WaveOut/Default. After you do something li...

Re: CVC1

Without any further info there's nothing we can do. It's very difficult to find an unknown codec especially if the program that was used for creating the videos didn't bother to properly mark the resulting files with something useful.

Re: Sound lag / stutter

I am seeing improvements after changing audio out to waveout and back to default and I am seeing improvement after disabling power management and enable it back. So somewhere, somehow the settings (registry), VLC, power management, timing, audio drivers are interacting in the wrong way after a defau...

Re: Problem with Win32 waveOut Extension Audio Output Module

I've done some research, it appears there's no optimized/vendor driver available for this audio solution. If there is another way to add audio to your system/use the onboard audio already built-in, I suggest you use that one.

I've seen another posting recently where this is caused by the media file you open has actually two embedded video streams.

Re: Problem with Win32 waveOut Extension Audio Output Module

Updated your audio drivers to the latest version? Updated the chipset/USB drivers to the latest version? Windows fully updated? Checked for viruses/malware?

In the menu, Tools, Messages, Verbosity -> 2, play the file and post the log you get please so we can see what might be causing this.

Is VLC the only program crashing with this error?

Do you have any other player you can use to playback the recorded file to check if the audio data is in the file too?

ok, next option. Change the audio output to Win32 waveOut extension output, restart VLC, set it back to Default, restart VLC. If that doesn't work, check your audio drivers and see if you have the latest version. Realtek HD audio in particular seems to have this problem in my area, my own (working n...

Re: AUDIO LAG WITH 2.x.x

change your power management settings one time to something else, then change them back (in windows). This workaround may help for you.

If it doesn't, disable power management in the bios, reboot, enable it in the bios, reboot, that does work as a workaround.

Re: power management - standby / screensaver while paused

This is part of a bigger issue with power management/VLC interference that can also cause jittery playback/stutter because the system timer is not properly read for some odd reason. I have no idea how they solved this in WMP that is working fine on all machines affected by this issue. Workaround so ...

I am leaning towards a corruption issue in the power management settings of which I hope is just the regis...
