AVCapture only uses the native resolution which is provided by the camera. There is no setting to change that yet.

Hi, for some browsers, the website detects automatically that you run on M1 mac and offers the right download from the start. Unfortunately this mechanism does not work in Apple Safari (they do not provide this information in purpose), so for this brower we can only offer the Intel variant by default.

@alxemerald Please make sure you look in the correct place. There is a simple prefs pane (accessible via vlc-> Settings) then click on advanced button to open the expert mode showing all settings. The on the left side there is the video category on the top level.

The settings is unchanged, and can be found in the "Video" tab of the preferences pane.

If you want to help to get it fixed, please try a nightly build from https://artifacts.videolan.org/vlc-3.0/nightly-macos-x86_64/ and provide to us the content from the macOS crash window once it appears. This is likely not a simple bug to fix, so some help is needed, if you want to have it fixed. :-)

Homebrews standard path /usr/local/lib is sometimes recognized by some build systems, causing problems. In principles, you can also compile with homebrew libraries (but you might not be able to redistribute the results on other machines). Its just that this might not be supported properly by the bui...

If you run on an M1 mac, then you should upgrade to 3.0.12.1, yes. This version is functionally the same as 3.0.12, but runs as native arm code and is therefore much faster on your mac.

You need to execute vlc from the build folder as follows:

./bin/vlc-osx-static

Then it works.

I assume you might have homebrew installed? This might interfere with the local contribs mechanism of VLC.

It would be good if you can detail more what you mean exactly with "glitches".

If you use the open panel and select your mic in the input devices tab, you can see the coresponding MRL in the text field below.
But you will not see it there anymore if you select both video and audio (this it due to VLC technical internals, it is still used).

Please update your VLC, the latest version which supports mac OS X 10.7 is VLC 3.0.12 at the moment.

No there are no such plans to build an official Universal app, sorry.

This is due to multiple issues, like huge size of a universal app, as well as performance penalties.

Please try to reset VLCs preferences.

Did you try to reset VLCs preferences (reset button in the settings windows)?

Regarding the video sources, would you be so kind to exactly describe in which order the Video devices are shown, and how they are played? Also if you upload some logs it can help identifying the issue.

Changes are only saved if the file is in the media library. Also, metadata will not be saved into MKV file itself (this only works for some Audio formats).

This is not the VLC log file. Please first open the messages window (main menu --> windows --> messages). Then play the disc again. Afterwards you can save the full log to a file.

We usually recommend Handbrake, which is a better tool to convert DVDs, than VLC. It is built using the same technologies, but it has a more easy interface to use, and is dedicately purposed for this task.

Can you please try to make the buttons smaller, by taking the bottom right edge, and actually dragging the edge upwards?

If this does not work, it would be a bug.

If your are on ARM, search for update again, which gives you 3.0.12.1 which is the native arm version.
