OK, those are the preferences of VLC itself. They disappear too quickly as that I could change anything, but now, having had a close look, I could see that the box is unchecked.

That's everything that happened _after_ initial logcat output, when I started VLC again and it crashed again.
Is that enough, or do you need the whole log including the indexation process?
Just installed the latest nightly v6-nofpu VLC-debug.apk, 7927207 bytes, sha1sum 9c708b0bf2eb5d5e0454f929f19e689d5bb6c125. Still quits about three seconds after indexation finished, and...
