Re: Clean video start

The cone image is embedded in the executable or dll library files unfortunately there is no easy way of removing it (perhaps compile VLC yourself?) or switch to Mplayer. You can probably get around this by manipulating your graphics card settings most have colour controls for Desktop and colour cont...

Re: XP and VLAN

What graphics card do you have, do you have the latest drivers??

Run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (dxdiag.exe) go to the "Display" tab and run "Test DirectDraw".
Also try to play other videos like c:\windows\system32\oobe\images\intro.wmv

Re: Codec information fps never spot on.

Thanks for the info I've often wondered how USA having AC electricity at 60Hz could have TV refresh rates were 59.94fps-ish. It's just a pity TV standard wasn't agreed upon years ago now we many different frame rates, colour encoding techniques etc. I guess with the advent of HDMI technology this ha...

Re: Codec information fps never spot on.

I can appreciate that some programs probably round off the fps at a certain decimal point however could someone please explain what "30000" and "1001" are in relation to the fps calculation for NTSC??

Re: Codec information fps never spot on.

Hi, I am sure you are correct however after Googling for 29.97029fps I can't find anything to suggest that this is the exact frame rate for NTSC.

Could you elaborate on your formula 30000/1001 what are the 2 numbers referring too??

Re: Dropped fps when changing clip position (mp4)

I've added another report with a video of my desktop demonstrating the problem "timebar_fps_problem_more.mp4" I wasn't sure how to merge this with the one I had already posted.

Re: Distorted / bad audio when playing mp3

It's hard to offer any suggestions when we cannot hear what the problem is without examples. It could be a lot of things like poor up/down-sampling i.e. 44.1kHz <-> 48kHz, out of date DirectX / audio drivers. What OS are you running?? What type of mp3 files are you playing?? i.e. bit rate sample rat...

Re: VLC playback stalls on certain video files

I have the debugging logs for both files VLC wasn't printing any information before as I explained in another post. For the VOB file: http://pastebin.com/jzVyY0Ft For the MPEG-1 file: http://pastebin.com/zj8LM79L The MPEG-1 problem is a weird one if I reduce the bit rate from 1500 kbits/sec to 1050k...

Re: Dropped fps when changing clip position (mp4)

Hi, I have the report you requested for some reason VLC wasn't showing debugging information before even though Verbosity was already set to 2, it starts working when you toggled the Verbosity levels. Is this a bug or expected behaviour for VLC?? I've done logs for VLC 2.0.2 and 1.1.11 although to b...

Re: BSOD in full screen mode IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE

Although you have the latest drivers it does sound like driver issue.
If you have a support page for Free ADSL TV I would recommend you send them an error report.

Re: How do I flip a video 180 degrees?

Go to the "extended" settings panel it's the 4th button from the right with 3 vertical lines like equaliser sliders, "Video effects", "Geometry", "Transform".

Re: Dropped fps when changing clip position (mp4)

I had messages enabled (set Verbosity to 2) but no errors reported. This is the same problem as indicated by another poster - http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=102027 the frame rate drops when you change the position of the clip the only time VLC would recover if you move the time b...

I've uploaded it again the zip file is "playback_stall.zip" if you still haven't received it I could upload the media files individually.

Codec information fps never spot on.

If I open an NTSC DVD VOB VLC reports 59.940059fps (interlaced 2 x 29.97fps) if I open an NTSC MPEG-2 VLC reports 29.97029fps if I open an AVI with set frame rate of 29.97fps VLC reports 29.970628 To add to the confusion VLC thinks one of my mp4 files has 1000fps Avidemux (open source editor) says 1...

Dropped fps when changing clip position (mp4)

I have a camera app on my Android phone which encodes mp4 files as h.264 / aac. When playing in VLC 2.0.2 it works however when the clip position is manually changed the frame rate drops to 1 fps. There are no error message (verb 2.0) CPU load is normal, I can pause / unpause and it continues to pla...

I uploaded them using the VideoLAN uploading page I wasn't given any URL or reference number.
The zip file was "samples.zip" which contained 2 files sample.vob and sample.mpg

VLC playback stalls on certain video files

I've recently updated from 1.1.11 to version 2.0.2 to see if there has been any improvements or new features to VLC however I would like to address some problems I have encountered. For some reason version 2.0.2 is using approximately 10% more CPU load than 1.1.11 while playing h.264 / he-aac conten...

Re: Framerate drops with some MP4 files

Is your CPU getting pegged while playing these video clips??

I've noticed my CPU load is bigger with 2.0.2 than 1.1.11 perhaps VLC is intentionally dropping frames to compensate.

Suggestions for VLC

Firstly I would like to say how much I love this program I use this all the time over Windows Media Player however I feel it lacks many useful video enhancements. De-interlacing - is too basic it needs bob, weaver, or single field I've always found blending frames for certain clips blurry which is w...

I've found a work around for Android and that's to use the h263 encoder unfortunately it seems playback only lasts for about 60 seconds. I also have the same problem when playing audio only streams too via rtsp my it lasts for approximately 60 seconds then stops. My Android handsets (2.1 and 2.3.7 C...

VLC live video streaming via rtsp??

I've been experimenting with VideoLAN VLC Player (2.0.1) and from what I understand it can act like a media server supporting several different protocols.
