You don't need the SDK. Follow the new instructions for using Term.apk: http://wiki.videolan.org/Android_Report_bugs#Logcat_log

Quick notice on the Razr. When hardware acceleration is on I cannot see video with AVI files although I do get sound.

That's my problem. There isn't log file in /sdcard

Try the Terminal/Term.apk method on that page then.

That's everything that happened _after_ initial logcat output, when I started VLC again and it crashed again.
Is that enough, or do you need the whole log including the indexation process?

I don't think Video4Linux is available on Android, and even if it was, I don't think Android has such drivers to access these devices. I tried to install the new Beta version using Google Play. First error said not compatible in your country. Rebooted computer and phone then got message saying incompatible with my device...at ATT Samsung Galaxy III S. Bummer.

i would suggest to have a direct link to the apk-files on the VLC for Android-website for allt those people who don't want to use Google play store (e.g because of privacy issues)

accesses media stored on /mnt/emmc, the Internal Storage. Being able to access other mount points, like sdcard and usbdisk would be very useful

Change the root in Preferences.

I use Ubuntu One a file sharing cloud service. All purchased music is saved (can't change it) under /sdcard/u1/.ubuntuone
